What is a UPF rating?
When you're deciding what to wear for the yard that day, do you think about what you're wearing can have sun protection too? Many people do not know that fabrics can have a UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) rating which tells you how much of the sun's UV radiation is blocked.
The radiation is UVB and UVA, these both penetrate through clothing however penetration can be reduced by treating fabric.
To gauge the different levels of protection the UPF rating is below:
15-24: 93.3% - 95.9% GOOD
25-39: 96% - 97.4% VERY GOOD
40-50: 97.5% - 98%. EXCELLENT
50+: 98%+ EXCELLENT
